According to Houzz, the most common kitchen remodel request is for a kitchen island, and we would have to agree! Many homeowners dream of a kitchen island that can accommodate food preparation, extra storage and even seating.

Nearly any kitchen remodel will include adding a larger, deeper sink. Rather than a divided sink, many homeowners now prefer a single-basin sink that will fit the largest pots and pans with ease.

Everyone needs more prep space! The National Kitchen and Bath Association recommends a section of continuous countertop at least 36 inches wide and 24 inches deep immediately next to the sink. Many homeowners opt for secondary prep space as well, such as with a kitchen island or peninsula.

Who could not use more kitchen storage? Southwestern Remodeling commonly adds more storage during kitchen remodel projects by creating walk-in pantries, sliding-door pantries, pantries with roll-out shelves, “appliance garages” with hidden outlets, vertical utensil storage and spice storage.

Many homeowners request an eat-in area within their new kitchen, which can serve as somewhere to grab a quick bite or provide overflow seating from the dining room. Kitchen seating can be provided with a kitchen island, peninsula, countertop bar or eat-in nook.

Gone are the days of an exposed trashcan! Modern kitchen remodel projects include built-in space for a trash bin and recycling bin, as well as an electric composter upon request.
